The Mysterious Mount Salak

Many people believe Mount Salak located in West Java is a mysterious place still. I had a chance to hear some of the happenings happened to my friends when I visited Bogor recently.

Before I continue with the tales,it is good to have an overview of this volcanic mountain. Mount Salak comprises of a few peaks labelled as Salak Peak 1 and Salak Peak 2. Both peaks are above 2000m above sea level (ASL) except the Sumbul peak which is around 1900m.

An interesting or else funny story told by my mountain hiker friend, Abu. His somehow bizarre story was that when he and his fellow hikers fell asleep at night after a day's expedition at around 1800m ASL.

In the dream, Abu dreamed of a very pretty lady came to him from a house located at the mountain peak. The mysterious pretty lady invited Abu to go to her house to have a cup of tea. Without too much hesitation, Abu agreed and follow the pretty lady to her house.

There, Abu saw there were many pretty ladies in the house smiling and greeted Abu. After a sumptuous meal, the pretty ladies started to dance around Abu and seduce him to take his clothing off. As expected, after rounds of horrific seduction attack, Abu ejaculated and only to find himself had a wet dream.

When Abu told his companions about his wet dream last night. Other folks also said that they too had the same erotic dream!

Later, the group learnt that the place where they camped for the night was not so far from the site of airplane disaster some time ago. Were those restless souls of air disaster victims? No one has any answers.

Another mountain hiker, Ali also claimed that he once broken the taboo of the mountain causing he just walked in circles after he felt it was time for home. Before the hike, Ali was warned by local folks of not to pluck any wild orchids as orchids are the mountain spirit's pet.

Perhaps realizing his mistake, Ali threw away the orchids and prayed. As soon as Ali finished praying, suddenly the road in front of him cleared and he was able to go home.

In another Mount Salak hike, Ali claimed to have come across an old grandma with very thin clothing. Ali offered to send the grandma home worrying of her safety as it was approaching evening. But the grandny declined and said that she would rather stay in the mountain.

According to the granny, the deeper the night, the more food she would be able to get. As recalled by Ali, the old grandma has spoken in ancient Javanese language with a very low and thick accent. After that the strange grandma bid Ali farewell and advised Ali to descend to the mountain base as soon as possible or bad things might befallen upon him.

Strangely too, the usually stubborn Ali somehow complied and he turn his back and went down the mountain. On the way down, Ali heard very loud tiger roar at his back. Though feeling strange, his instinct told Ali to run for his life.

As soon as Ali reached the mountain foot, landslide happened behind Ali missing him by a close distance! Until today, Ali believes the odd grandma was a tiger spirit which has spared Ali's life due to his help offer.

Those were the strange tales from Mount Salak I could recall for now. Believe it or not?

My Pal Who Sees Ghosts (阴阳眼友)

I have a friend whom I vowed not to go out with her as she claimed herself as having the ability to see ghosts. Nothing wrong you say? Then, follow up with me please...

One evening, the lady and I went to an acquaintance's wedding dinner and the restaurant parking lot was practically full. So, after encircling my car for a few rounds, I finally slot my car in a secluded area as it was then approaching dinner time...

After the dinner, we walked around to search my car. Frankly speaking, I have a very poor memory and after walking for a while in circle; I just couldn't find the place where I have parked my automobile. Then...

The lady suddenly pointed her finger to a lamp post and said confidently: "I am sure your car is somewhere behind the lamp post!"

Though feeling surprised, we proceeded to the corner where the lady has pointed out. And, indeed. My car was there!

After we went into the car, I started the engine and just as I drove; I asked the lady: "Just out of curiosity, how did you managed to find my car in the dark?"

The lady said in slumber:  "Well, I saw this female ghost stood by the lamp post. And after the dinner, the ghost was still there!"

Stunned but I regretted after I opened my big mouth: "Oh, where is the ghost now?"

"Ah, the ghost is now at the backseat. She wanted a ride!"

Me: "..."

I was certain the weirdest and longest journey back home of my life...

Of course, the above was not the worse experience.

In another occasion, as I was sending the lady home; she suddenly yelled at me while my car was speeding: "STOP!!"

I immediately slammed on my brake and the car toke a big S-sway and halted. Luckily, the road was practically empty at that moment.

When I regained my senses, I asked her: "What's the matter?"

"Oh, you should let the OLD LADY pass first!"

What 'old lady'? The road in front of us was practically empty!!

Perhaps for my own safety and as I was still able to stay sober; I tried not to deal with the lady alone...

Feng Shui & Parents (风水与父母)

People like to make a big fuss about Feng Shui. But I can sum up Feng Shui with two words: 'father-mother' (父母). Basically, Feng Shui is established based on 'filial piety' (孝道): When the parents are alive, they should stay comfortably. When the deceased, the parents should be buried in a place of comfort.

Extending such a concept then we can deduce that if our parents stays comfortably, then the offspring will prosper.

1: Middle son
2: Mother
3. Elder son
4: Eldest daughter
5. Parents
6. Father
7: Youngest daughter
8: Youngest son
9: Middle daughter

So said, referring to the above diagram, the whereabouts of our parents will definitely affect the well beings of the offspring.

Again, if the 5 is upset, then everyone suffers.

If you have been neglecting your parents, then it is time to return and take a look at the old folks' condition. You will then realize that your misery maybe the result of your negligence towards your old folks...

As you can see... Feng Shui is as simple as ABC!

Repetitive Deaths (重丧)

I was asked to comment on the phenomenon of 'repetitive deaths' (重丧) as a friend of mine whose mother had passed away a few months back and followed by his brother also died recently.

Interestingly speaking, I started to inquire some of my friends and it turned out that they too have face similar unfortunate incidents too....

First, my dad died within 6 months of my grandma's death.

Another friend's father passed away followed by his grandmother also within six months period.

It is very difficult to have a detailed study as most of the information is not sufficient. But what is clear is that the ones died were quite close to each other such as mother-son relationship.

Throughout my life as Feng Shui auditor, I have found out the repetitive deaths cases are probably related to grave and house Feng Shui.

For example: My pal's healthy father suddenly passed away and his grandma also died soon after that. Then his uncle became very ill.

The family employed a Feng Shui master and the master suggested that the family's ancestral grave to be exhumed and the remains cremated.  The friend's uncle subsequently recovered.

In another case. A lady's husband suddenly suffered cancer and died within 1 year. Then her brother-in-law also passed away a few months later and then the lady's son died in a freak accident. So within a period of 2 years, all of the male members in her family died one after another.

An audit was carried out on the lady's ancestral grave and found that a huge tree on the left corner of her grandpa's grave was being chopped down by the grave caretaker.

The lady was subsequently advised to have her grandpa's grave exhumed for good.

Personally, I would advise caution when ancestral grave is to be exhumed as a small mistake may cause unrecoverable damage.

Another friend's father and uncle fell ill suddenly following his grandma's death. A Feng Shui master suggested that the grandparent's graves were to be exhumed and remains cremated.

The friend complied to the instructions and a few months later, his father succumbed to illness but his uncle survived.

When this case was brought to my attention, I found out that the Feng Shui master didn't perform a 'time selection' (择日) and the time of grave digging was in conflict with '3-kills' (三煞); the tomb facing was coincided with the old man's zodiac sign.

So, I never like to tough others' ancestral graves unless necessary..

Personally, I would attribute the phenomenon of 'repetitive deaths' to house or grave Feng Shui. Once the problems were resolved, then the unfortunate repeating deaths would automatically ceased as fast as within a month.

The Cult Of Phra Ngang (榜眼教派)

Phra Ngang is a fable character but it is worshiped by Casanova in East and West, male and female as believers think Phra Ngang can bestow them with super attractive power to gain money and power.

Many people contacted me just because they wanted to get their hands on this Phra Ngang manual. Now I will reveal this Phra Ngang practices to you for your references.

Please bear in mind that I don't believe in Phra Ngang and hence, I am not sure what will come to you once you follow the invocation ritual and recite the mantra.

As far as I know, none of those who aimed for women/men and money through Phra Ngang had any good endings. Many people ended up in court cases and lost what they possessed after a while.

The ritual in this blog refers to the 'standard Thai Phra Ngang', the Cambodian Phra Ngang ritual has already posted. Perhaps I shall move the two Phra Ngang rituals in one single blog.

Finally, your discretion is advised when reading such materials.

Black Hole & Light Theory (黑洞与光论)

I do occasionally received some interesting visitors and this is just one of the many:

A lady dropped at my place and we started to chat just about anything until she suddenly blurred out:

"When you have seen the light, you are already in a black hole!"

I got a stunned and starred at her. Feeling uneasy of my odd expression, the lady started to explain:

"Well, you see. Isn't it is true that black hole sucks just about everything including light? If you see the 'LIGHT', then you maybe already sucked into the black hole already..."

Hmm... The lady did has a point: If you are not already in a black hole, how can the LIGHT come to you?

Somehow long after the lady left, her black hole and light theory echoed in my mind for a very long time until I decided to put it down before I forget this ingenious theory.

To put it more philosophically though, we can interpret the saying according to our own perspectives:

If we are worldly folks, the above sentence can be read as:

"Oh, shit! We realized too late!"

If we are of more religious type, then we can read the sentence as:

"Pray to the LIGHT before it is too late!"

Of If we are of more scientific and futuristic type:

"Our spaceship is already in a black hole..."

There are many way to look at the 'theory of black hole and light', how would you see it?

Grave Keeper's Stories (守墓者的故事)

One night I was passing beside a Malay cemetery and stumbled across Pak Samad who worked as a grave keeper. So we habitually started to chat and coincidentally the sky started to drizzle. Since none of us had the intention to cut short our conversation then; Pak Samad invited me to a Mamak stall to have a cup of 'tea tarik' (pulled milk tea).

After a few sips of thick milk tea, I was curious if Pak Samad had any bizarre experience while working in the graveyard. Perhaps that had triggered Pak Samad's chatter box and he started to talk. So as to encourage him to talk further, I ordered two pieces of 'roti canai' (flying pancake).

Perhaps food can really close the gap between people, once our stomachs were filled; Pak Samad started to talk:

Unlike burial customs of other religions, Muslim burial service should ideally be done as soon as possible upon death, or at most within 24 hours.

So, in many occasions Pak Samad must work in the middle of the night to prepare for the forthcoming burial requests.

One midnight as Pak Samad had completed some work in the cemetery he worked in, just as when he was about to leave, he suddenly heard weeping sound came from the further end of the graveyard.

Pak Samad was curious as no one would be visiting graveyard in the dead of the night. Due to curiosity than fear, he ventured to the grave where the weeping sound came from...

As he was approaching the grave, he saw a man was squatting beside a grave and continued to weep. Pak Samad approached the man from behind and then tapped the man's shoulder and said: "Brother, what are you doing in the graveyard in the middle of the night?"

The man stopped weeping and turned his back. When Pak Samad and the man met face to face, Pak Samad saw that the man has no eye balls... instead, the man's eyes were just hollow holes... The man is not human!

In a state of fright, Pak Samad took a step back and fell backwards and sat on the floor while crying out the God's name loudly...

When Pak Samad wanted to look at the person again, he has vanished. After some frantic search around the cemetery area, there was no one there except Pak Samad.

In another occasion, Pak Samad was looking for a pair of tombstones in the storeroom at night preparing for a burial service scheduled at dawn. After searching high and low, the tombstones seemed to have disappeared.

Pak Samad was certainly in a state of panic as he may be blamed by the deceased's relatives for creating troubles and inconveniences in a few hours' time.

As a last resort, Pak Samad decided to dig into the store room again for a last check. Just as when he was searching frantically while bending his back, he heard foot steps walking into the store room from outside.

It was a series of 'thump, thump..." and the sound stopped right at Pak Samad's back. He thought it might be the gravedigger, Ali. So Pak Samad turned his back and opened his mouth: "Hey, Ali..."

Before Pak Samad could finish, his jaw dropped and there he saw a man holding a piece of tombstone that Pak Samad was frantically searching for. The man was quite cold without facial expressions. He asked Pak Samad: "Brother, can you show me my grave?"

Pak Samad was stunned as he has never seen the man before but before Pak Samad could scratch his heads, the mysterious stranger has vanished! In place, there was a pair of tombstones that Pak Samad had searched throughout the night!

And in one more occasion, Pak Samad was taking a night watch in the cemetery, he heard a lady's voice calling his name...

So, Pak Samad traced the voice to a huge tree in the grave. As he approached the tree, he noticed an awfully foul smell similar to rotten flesh. When Pak Samad approached beneath the tree, he instinctively raised his head and...

There he saw a woman in white was sitting on a tree branch waving her hands at Pak Samad... Without second words, Pak Samad ran as fast as possible into the cemetery store room and recited some prayers to calm himself.

The rain soon stopped, before we parted; I asked Pak Samad what motivated him to continue his carrier as a grave keeper. And his answer was quite philosophical: "Well, we all will die some day. I might as well get used to the graveyard before my time is up."
