The Worldly Bird Of Paradise (Cenderawasih)

The story begins with an old occult book called “Tajul Muluk”. In that is described about a bird called “Burung Cenderawasih” or “bird of paradise”. The bird was said to have born in paradise. Many of the eldest said that a Burung Cenderawasih came from paradise and always found sitting beside the pious.

There was also narration in other Malay old books that when a Burung Cenderawasih came down to earth, its life will end. However, what is strange and interesting about this bird is its body will not degrade. It is because it was said that the bird only drinks water from the paradise and it has a very strong out of the world fragrance. People believed that a Burung Cenderawasih died because of many reasons. They sometimes died while flying, while at rest or while sleeping.

Burung Cenderawasih as known in SEA, it is known as Phoenix for the Chinese. In Europe, the bird is popularly known as 'Bird of Paradise'. This bird can actually be found on the island of Paupa New Guinea, Indonesia and parts of Northern Australia. There is no evidence that this bird comes from paradise. Many of the bird taxidermies are still kept throughout generations.

In the book of Tajul Muluk, burung cenderawasih was said to have various benefits:

·         Most of the body parts are used in traditional medicine.

·         Many people use the bird because they believe it can bring good luck for their own use or for business.

·         Burung Cenderawasih is used as 'pelaris' (for good fortune).

·         The tail of the Burung Cenderawasih brought luck to their life.

·         According to the book: “If a feather of a bird of paradise is brought wherever you go, then people will be attracted to you.”

·         The book further mentions that: “… Your face will look shiny, respected by people, foe become friends and ease of sustenance. Whoever is jealous about you will instead love you … “

·         Specifically for the businessmen and politicians: “Whoever keeps a bird of paradise in his or her house, then this person is so lucky as if keeping a mountain of gold, diamonds and pearls. His or her authority will increase, together with his wealth and social status.

In reality, Burung Cenderawasih is still a worldly bird. It is such magical belief that has caused this type of bird hunted to its extinction.

Queen Ajasmoro’s Love Magic

This mantra originates from Jawa Island, it is used to get love from someone. It also consist the element of calling.

The Background

It is narrated that King Minakjinggo of Blambang was trying to underme the power of Majapahit. Who is King Minakjinggo? He was originally named Joko Umbaran, a powerful and handsome young man. The Queen Kencono Wungu was holding a contest where the Queen of Majapahit declared that anyone who can beat Kebo Marcuet; and so be it that if the winner is a woman will become her sister, otherwise would be her husband.

Finally, the duel between Joko Umbaran and Kebo Mercuet took place. And the fight was won by Joko Umbaran. However, consequence from the fight, Joko Umbaran’s originally handsome face was destroyed by Mercuet Kebo. Kebo Mercuet himself was killed by Mercuet Kebo.

Because it was already promised, the Queen must be prepared to be the wife of Kencono Umbaran Joko. Unfortunately, due to the condition of Umbaran Joko Kencono Wungu, Queen Anjasmoro was reluctant. So she looked for a plausible reason and told Joko Umbaran to set up the Duchy in the easternmost part of Java, called Blambangan. There Joko Umbaran was titled King Minak Jinggo.

Since it was apparent that Queen Kencono did not intend to uphold her promise, King Minak Jinggo rebelled against Majapahit. For his insubordination, a young man named Damarwulan was sent to kill Minak Jinggo. The war was told in song of Asmorodono:

Masmiran kulako warto

Dasihmu tan wurung layon

Aning kutho Probolinggo

Prang duel lan Urubismo

Karyo mukti duh wong ayu

Kakang was excused palastro”

It is an expression of her lover named Goddess Damarwulan Anjasmoro. Damarwulan in reality did not like Queen Kencono Wngu to be married by Jinggo Minak.

Damarwulan was repeatedly defeated in wars against Jinggo Manik. Eventually with the assistance by Waeto and Puyengan, wives of  Minak Jinggo by stealing Godo wesi kuning and the Sukoyono sword.

Absorbing Energy Of Tao

A Taoist utilises many type of training method to increase his or her personal energy for healing or for personal supernatural power developments. Amongst these methods, the quickest way to increase one’s power is to absorb more power from another power source.

The below ritual will enable a person to absorb additional energy from a steady power source (anything excluding the thunder and lightning) and it is best to be practised in an open space, on top of a hill, in the woods or seaside. First imagine that you are standing in the centre of the above patterns. Then think of the outer five concentric circles and recite the below mantra:

“First I unite with people, second I unite with earth, third I unite with heaven, and fourth I unite with Tao, fifth I unite with the nature.”

一合人,二合地,三合天,四合道,五合自然。

You must try to imagining that you are drawing in all of the clean and pure energies in the universe into your “dan tian”. Then hold your breath and recite the below mantra:

离、旨、火、天、尊、胜

“Li, Zhi, Huo, Tian, Zun, Sheng.”

After that, release all the energies back to the universe, releasing along is all of the bad auras, diseases, bad lucks.

You may practise this energy drawing exercise for 12, 24 or 49 repetitions. But avoid going beyond 49 repetitions as too much energy may be harmful for a beginner.

This method is very similar to the “Star Position” in Western Magic.

Escape From Bad Luck (金蠶脫殼)

I am sure many people only think of religion when they are in some kind of troubles; but they have no basic understanding of the religion they seek help to. In fact, in all religions, the only way to change one’s faith; is to practice some kind of rituals. The below is a very simple method of getting rid of bad luck or spirit attachments.

If you feel that you are having bad luck, problems with work, bad health, money problems, family issues, bad human relationships etc. Then please do so and try out the below ritual then let me know how you feel.

The method:

·         Prepare some cinnabar, a bottle of liquor and a hardboiled egg.

·         Call upon your patron god/goddess.

·         Put some cinnabar onto your left palm then pour some liquor onto the cinnabar.

·         The number of liquor droppings must be equal to your age; e.g. 30 year old equivalent to 30 drops of liquor.

·         Now take the hardboiled egg and rub it with the mixture of cinnabar and liquor.

·         Let the egg dry and bring it outside of your house.

Cheating Death With Sea Water (海水避死)

Taoist hiding method is meant to “avoid death”. This ritual is normally carried out when an astrological reading shows that a person is expected to have life threatening incidents within a period of three years. A person can use this method to extend his or her life span for a total of three years every time. However, if the life span of a person has come to an end, then this method will not be effective.

There are many ways to carry out a “Cheating Death” ritual; we have already gone through the “Rock Ritual”. Now let us review the “Water Ritual” as below:

·         This ritual must be carried out in the requester’s house.

·         First you must set up an altar to honor the “North Plough” (北斗)

·         Prepare a big earth urn and fill half of the urn with sea water.

·         Make a small boat from wood or bamboo, and then cut some of the person’s hair and finger nails. Wrap these personal belongings with a piece of red paper. Put this wrapping on the boat and followed by put the small boat in to the urn. You must make sure that the boat floats steadily on the sea water. Now, close the mouth of the urn with a piece of red cloth.

·         Finally put a bow and seven pieces of arrows on the urn.

·         Place the urn under the North Plough altar.

·         Avoid disturbing the urn for a period of three years.

The person who is “cheating death” must perform a simple exercise every month to see if his or her trouble is over. This person must observe his or her shadow to find out if the “cheating death” ritual has taken effect:

·         If the shadow is complete and bright, then the ritual is effective.

·         If the shadow has no head, then this person will die soon.

There are many follow up rituals such as praying to the North Plough to prolonged life, or further “hiding” rituals depending on the situation of the person.

Feng Shui War (風水斗法)

In Feng Shui practice, there are two ways of dealing with “sha” energy:

·         To transform the “sha” (化煞)

·         To counter the “sha” (制煞)

Since Feng Shui is based on the harmony of the Chi energy, the transformation of the “sha” energy is the best option. The later method of countering thesha” using a trident (三叉), Bagua (八卦), an axe or even sharp objects to fight fire with fire, an eye with an eye not only harms your opponent but also bad for yourself.

The below true story happens 10 years ago in Malaysia. The affected party was a millionaire Mr. Chan. Mr. Chan has a bungalow built according Feng Shui “carps leap over dragon gate” format (鯉魚躍龍門).  This format is very good to draw in richness. But carps need water to survive, so Mr. Chan built a big water fountain in front of his bungalow. Indeed as expected, after building the fountain, Mr. Chan’s business expanded rapidly.

On the other hand, Mr. Yap who lived opposite Mr. Chan’s bungalow has built a format of “golden cock stands on one foot” (金雞獨立). This Feng Shui formation forbids facing the water fountain as a cock is afraid of going into the water. Initially, Mr. Yap’s Feng Shui is excellent, but following the completion of Mr. Chan’s water fountain; Mr. Yap’s business gradually gone down the hill. So to counter acting Mr. Chan’s water fountain, Mr. Yap constructed an artificial hill in front of his mansion following Feng Shui principle of earth rule over the water element.

Not long after Mr. Yap has built his artificial hill, Mr. Chan felt that his business was doing not as good as before. After performing some observations, he has concluded that his neighbor, Mr. Yap has sabotaged the “carps leap over dragon gate” format and decides to perform a counter attack on Mr. Yap’s Feng Shui setup. So Mr. Chan planted a row of tall banana trees to use the principle of wood element rules over the earth. At the same time Mr. Yap also counter attack Mr. Chan by building a row of tall stainless steel fence.

I visited the location three years later and only to learn that Mr. Chan and Mr. Yap were both filed for bankruptcy due to business failure. Both bungalows were also changed ownerships. Hence from the above example, I always advise my client that it is better to seek Feng Shui transformation and not to counteracting Feng Shui energies. It is really not advisible to fight fire with fire using Feng Shui methods don't you also agree so?

Polong Or Pelesit Alike

The Malay believes that polong is a predominantly a male spirit and kept by a man; while a pelesit is a female spirit and kept by a woman. Whatever you would like to call it; its height is less than one inch. Whoever is keeping a polong will have a very thin physique, haggered and pale. Polong attacks its victim with its sharp fangs and it leaves two small holes on its victim’s body.

Polong or pelesit is said to be able to know enemies’ secrets and inform its master. It also can perform heavy duties such as building a house and assist its owner when in need. A polong is believed to possess the power to take the form of its master. The master of a polong is called “bapa” (“ibu” for pelesit) or “father” (“mother”). The local believe that polong will do anything for its master, but as a reward; this polong must be fed with the owner’s blood. If this owner refuses his polong blood, then this polong will become wild and will endanger its owner’s life.

According to common belief a polong is originated from the blood of a murdered victim. This blood is collected and kept in a bottle. A conjuration ritual is carried out for one week or so. Then polong will produce sound as if that of a newly hatched chick signifies that this polong is “ready” to serve its master. It is suffice just to feed the polong with a drop of its owner’s blood at this stage.

On the other hand, there is another opinion that says in order to own a polong, a person need to draw a drop of blood from his little finger into a small bottle. Then this bottle is wrapped with a piece of yellow cloth. The bottle is then hanged on the person’s bed, directly above his head. After that, a conjuration ritual is carried out while smudging the bottle for 40 days. Foam will be visible accompanied by sounds of newly hatched chick can be heard coming out from the inside of the bottle after 40 days. Not long after that, polong will manifest itself and ready to receive its first order.

I was told that when the voice of polong is clearly heard, then it is still quite far away. If the voice is faint, then the polong is near.

If you suspect that a polong is around you, and then seek if there is a grasshopper around. You must catch the grasshopper and plug its head. After that you must cut the body of the grasshopper into two. Observe if there is blood or rice in the body. The blood or rice will be the telltale sign that the creature is a polong (likewise with a Peleset).

One of the methods to find out the identity of polong’s owner is to press a piece pepper seed onto the right thumb of the said victim while reciting Kaf 40. It is said that by doing so, the polong will shout out the name of its owner. Having said that, it is in fact many times this type of technique is used to accuse an innocent person of due to hatred, jealous or personal revenge.
